Privacy Policy

Effective Date: August 10, 2026

The Short Version

ChatBKP collects nothing, has no servers, and never transmits your conversation data. It reads your archive from a file, builds a searchable library on your device, and keeps it there.

Nothing Is Collected

Your conversation data is never transmitted by ChatBKP:

  • ChatBKP has no networking code or servers of its own. Two system services can connect to the internet: store billing for an optional support subscription, and the Apple language-model download used by Meaning search. Neither service receives your archive or conversation content.
  • No analytics software.
  • No third-party crash reporting.
  • No advertising software.
  • No user accounts, sign-in, or registration.

Data Stored on Your Device

ChatBKP stores the following on your device:

  • The export archives you import, kept as an untouched copy inside the app.
  • A searchable library built from those archives, including conversations, messages, projects, and memories.
  • Your favorites, reading marks, project choices, and app settings.

This data stays in the app's private storage on your device. ChatBKP does not transmit it. On Apple devices, ChatBKP can place a conversation's name in system search so you can open it from outside the app. The section Finding a Conversation from Outside the App explains what is shared with system search and how to turn it off.

Device Permissions

File Access

ChatBKP needs permission to read the export folder or ZIP file you choose, and nothing else. It reads your source archives without changing them.

Face ID, Touch ID, and Screen Lock

ChatBKP can use Face ID, Touch ID, Optic ID, or your device screen lock to protect the app and to confirm an export. Both options are off until you turn them on. The operating system performs the check and tells ChatBKP only whether it succeeded. ChatBKP never receives your face data, fingerprint, or passcode.

Protection on Your Device

On iPhone and iPad, ChatBKP asks the system to protect every file it writes with your device passcode. The files cannot be read while the device is locked. This protection is on by default. On Mac, FileVault provides similar protection when you turn it on in System Settings. On Android, the system protects the app's private storage with your device screen lock.

On-Device Intelligence

On supported Apple devices, ChatBKP can use Apple Intelligence on the device to improve project suggestions and suggest titles, summaries, and topics. No conversation content is sent to Apple or anyone else. Without Apple Intelligence, ChatBKP uses its standard local tools and tells you which method it used. ChatBKP can also read a conversation aloud or ask Apple's system translation panel to translate one message. ChatBKP does not receive or store the translated text.

Searching by Meaning

On Apple devices, Meaning search can find conversations about an idea even when they use different words. It is on unless you switch it off. After your first import, the operating system downloads a language model from Apple. The download sends no conversation content. Your messages are processed on your device. The app stores a small set of numbers that represents the meaning of each message, not another copy of the text. These numbers stay in the app's private storage, are never included in an export, and can be deleted from the Storage screen.

Finding a Conversation from Outside the App

On Apple devices, system search and Shortcuts can find a conversation by name and open it in ChatBKP. This is on when you install the app, and you can turn it off in Settings. ChatBKP gives system search the conversation name, its creation and update dates, and the service it came from. It never gives system search the messages, summary, or topics. This information stays on your device but is stored outside ChatBKP. Turning the feature off removes everything ChatBKP placed there. The app lock protects ChatBKP, not system search, so conversation names can remain visible in system search while the app is locked. ChatBKP offers to remove them when you turn on the app lock.

Exports You Initiate

When you export an archive or a device-transfer file, the system saves or shares it only where you choose. ChatBKP never sends it on its own. Version 1.0 transfer files are not password protected. They contain conversation history in clear text, like the original ZIP downloads they contain, so keep them somewhere you trust.

Purchases

ChatBKP offers optional support subscriptions. They fund ongoing compatibility, maintenance, and product updates, but they unlock no archive feature. Apple or Google handles the purchase under its own privacy policy and has no access to your archive. On Android, Google's billing service requires internet and network-status permissions. ChatBKP uses those permissions only for store billing. Your conversations never travel through the billing service.

This Website

This website is a static page served from our own server. It sets no cookies, loads no third-party scripts, and embeds no fonts or analytics from anyone else's domain. Your theme and language choices are stored in your own browser and never sent anywhere.

Platform Services

If you download ChatBKP from Apple or Google, that store may process download or purchase data under its own privacy policy. We do not receive information that identifies you from that process.

Children's Privacy

ChatBKP is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone, children included.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, the effective date above will be updated before the revised policy goes live.
